According to the Food Act No.26 of 1980, all food establishments need to be registered with the food authority of the area.
To give effect to this legislation a new Regulation has been Gazetted which is called “Food (Registration of premises) Regulations -2019. According to this Regulation all food establishments from small way-side restaurants to star class hotels need to be registered under the Food Act.
This regulation will be effective from 01.01.2020
